An Introduction

Well, hello there.

I’m excited to kick off this blog and share my love for the Lord and writing with you, but first you probably want to know who you are “listening to.”

I’m Crystal. I’ve been married to Marc, my high school sweetheart, for twenty years this month. We have two children, Chaz, age 17 and Harley, age 15. We are active members of our church and are currently putting extra practice in with the church choir and orchestra in preparation for our Christmas production. Now don’t let me mislead you. While Marc and the kids have been musically blessed, I just attempt to make a joyful noise. 😉

I love writing! I started writing when I stayed home with my kids when they were little. I dabbled in inspirational fiction, but then the Lord led me to start writing non-fiction. I struggled with this calling for a long time…too long really. Maybe I’ll share that story on the blog another time.

When my kids headed off to school, I went to work as a school secretary in our small district. My eyes (and heart) were opened to the needs of many of the children who walked through our doors each day. I truly was naive to the fact that not everyone was able to love and care for their children as I did mine. The Lord burdened me to go back to school and get my teaching degree so that I could have even more of an impact on the lives of children. This is now my eighth year teaching, four in 1st grade and four in 2nd grade.

I combined my love for teaching and writing to become what some call a “teacherpreneur.” I have a teaching blog and online store selling teaching materials. My business partner (and friend) and I decided early on to use that platform to honor the Lord by starting a “Wisdom for Wednesday” series on the blog. Each week we share a quote or verse along with a short devotional. If you are a teacher–or just want to read our weekly Wisdom posts–check us out at Teaching Little Miracles.

Well, I suppose that is enough about me for now! I’d love for you to follow along with me on Facebook and/or Twitter as well as this blog. While I’m still praying about the exact direction all of this will take, I expect to start a weekly series (similar to my other blog) that will hopefully be an encouragement to you.

Thanks for stopping by!
